VACATION?!?

Journey Update

For those of you who have followed my journey so far, know that I originally signed up with Scentsy to have the ability to do things with my family above and beyond our normal life. For example, head on a vacation, be able to buy that extra toy, or splurge on dinner and movie outings.

Today will mark my 1 Year Scentiversary, and I am so thankful and joyous about today because I can officially say that we are booked and set and ready to travel to CUBA at the end of November this year, and I have to thank my #Scentsy family for providing me the addiontal income to be able to have this opportunity.

I will be spending a week on a 5 star resort, soaking in the sunshine and counting my blessings. So I have achieved my first goal, officially on the date that marks my 1 year Scentiversary with Scentsy Fragrance.

THANK YOU SCENTSY!

Tragedy Strikes In Our Backyard

Ottawa Parliament Shooting

#MyOttawa

"In brazen shootings in Ottawa Wednesday, an armed attacker identified by CBC News as Michael Zehaf-Bibeau, a Canadian born in 1982, shot and fatally wounded a Canadian Forces member at the National War Memorial before heading to Parliament's Centre Block, where he was shot dead."

News like this never seems to strike as close to home as this. I always hear and see things within the news about terrorism attacks, and although I personally don't live in Ottawa, this is our nations Capital and no matter what, as a Canadian, you cant help or fight that overwhelming feeling that these things are happening too close to home. I have true faith in our government and in our defense system in Canada, and I know that although we pride ourselves on being peaceful, everyone will be on slight edge for the next little while.

I want to offer my sincerest condolences for the Cirillo's family and friends who lost a very young and brave member of their family yesterday morning. "Cpl. Nathan Cirillo, 24, was shot while on honorary guard at the National War Memorial. Ottawa Police announced hours after the shooting that the soldier shot at the memorial had died."

Scentsy Blog Update - Brittany Gerrity - Certified Consultant

Heya Scentsy Friends!

I hope everyone is enjoying the non-official start to the fall season! Next week it's official! The weather is dropping in temperature fast, and the leaves have begun to change colour!

This is my absolute FAVOURITE time of the year, I cant say it enough!

I just thought i'd take a moment to post about what's going on in my Scentsy journey and what I have coming up!

First off, the end of October will be my 1 year Scentiversary, which is very exciting! I am having a blast on my journey, and cannot believe how satisfying it is to be part of such an amazing family.

Coming up I also have a few vendor events at some Christmas/Holiday fairs where I live, and this is my favourite thing to do! I LOVE seeing people face to face and having that opportunity to share the Scentsy Fragrance experience with everyone!

I have begun prep for those events by getting my handouts ready, my product ready to show off and by rehearsing some FAQ answers for those who like to know the nitty gritty of this amazing company.

I have also prepped about 40 Halloween handouts for parents when the wee trick-or-treaters come around. These include a product list sheet, a note from me, as well as a business card and a sample :)
I found these super cute spider web ziplock bags at my local dollar store that fit everything perfectly, and will be easy to pass out!

I have also expanded my horizon and have reached out to connect with local companies in my area that are willing to let me put some of my catalogues and samples in either their staff room, or their waiting area (depending on the type of business). This so far has worked out very well for me, and I am thankful to those who have reached out to me to help a girl out! haha

I have to admit though, I had a "not so hot" month last month, and decided that for September I was going to reach a minimum of 500 PRV as my goal to get myself back on track.
Well, its the 19th today, and I have surpassed my goal, and I just so happened to reach almost 800prv so far! Fingers crossed for a  few more orders! I'd love to double my goal! that would be SCENTsational!! lol

What else.... hmmmm...

Oh, my daughter is OBSESSED with her Stella the Unicorn. She faithfully carried Roosevelt around for the past few months, however, now she has moved onto Stella, and she loves her so much! I added a fuzzy blanket Scent Pak to her, and it smells Oh So Yummy!! ... I love the "rainbow" mane and tale on her as well, and how each one is slightly different, it makes them so unique!!

I also received some of my personal fall/winter warmers.... Including my "BoneHead" (the skull warmer), and the "Pumpkin Lace", my October Warmer Of The Month "Grateful Harvest", my charitable cause warmer "Ribbons Of Hope", one of the beauty new glass plug ins in cream... Stella the Unicorn (of course) and Scout the Dragon, as well as some of the new fragrances. I am OBSESSED with Autumn Blaze Maple, Orange Amber, and Boho so far.... they are sooooo this time of the year, and have made my home feel so cozy so far! - I also started warming my October Scent Of The Month "Very Peary Pumpkin" and it is also amazing, it reminds me of pumpkin pie!! I have had some rave reviews so far from those who have received a sneak peek sample from me!
.... Actually, out of the 10 bars I received in my kit, I only have 3 left!!

Hmmmm...

OH, Scentsy Fit Club ... UPDATE - I just registered for my bracelet, im officially down 10lbs!!

Annnd... That's all for now I suppose!!

Lots Of Love!

Scentsy Fragrance - Chasing Fireflies - September Warmer Of The Month

https://brittanygerrity.scentsy.ca/Buy/ProductDetails/30563

September 2014 Warmer Of The Month

"Chasing Fireflies"

Inspired by Scentsy President Heidi Thompson, Chasing Fireflies captures the essence of carefree, playful summer evenings. This pale-blue hand-painted warmer mimics a glass canning jar,
complete with a silver ring. It is embossed with whimsical, dancing fireflies.
When lit, the porcelain jar glows with a lovely warm light.

September's Warmer Of The Month, Chasing Fireflies, was so extremely popular (Even with consultants) that it already SOLD OUT. Don't get discouraged though, because Scentsy has a new order of them on the way! You can still order this beautiful warmer, just be aware that there is an approximate 8 week lead time to receive this amazing product... and because of such a long wait time (we all know Scentsy's regular lead time for orders is 5-10 business days) Scentsy is now going to be shipping an additional FREE warmer with any order placed after September first for Chasing Fireflies. The free warmer will be chosen by Scentsy, of course, however, they want to show their appreciation for your business by giving you an additional warmer for your home (or for a gift for this upcoming holiday season!!)

If you would like to place an order for this, please visit my website and click on Scent &Warmer Of The Month!

If you have any questions about the shipment delay please feel free to ask me questions at anytime!

Fall Is In The Air!

Are you ready for the Fall season?
Talkin Scents 101

Personally, there's no better time in the year for me, than fall! I love the change of the seasons, the crisp morning air and the sight of the changing colours and falling leaves!

I know for some, they are disappointed with the summer weather we received (at least where I live... we had a pretty crappy summer, im not going to lie!) However, I love nothing more than being able to bust out my sweaters and long jeans and of course my collection of boots!

The other part about fall that I love is all of the amazing fragrances that are associated with it! My Scentsy Fragrance personal collection is now being updated to my favourite smellies for the time of the year! I love being seasonal with my scents, and for some reason, the ones that are popular around this time of the year make everything feel so cozy and warm at home.

With the launch of the fall/winter 2014 catalogue well underway, I have started to warm everything that reminds me of fall.

Right now, the main floor of my house (kitchen, living room and dining room) are all warming:

Spiced Berries - Frankincense and myrrh waft beneath decadent berries to create a timeless scent.

My main floor bathroom is warming:

Clementine Clove: A bright medley of aromatic citrus with clove and a hint of balsam.

Upstairs is a slightly different story, not as fall as my main floor, but there are a couple reasons why...

First off, my daughter's room ... I allow her to pick out the fragrances that she loves to warm in her room herself. She has chosen to warm: Blueberry Cheesecake (of course) which isn't SUMMER but it also isn't FALL... she just LOVES her room smelling like cakes... her favourite fragrances are Blueberry Cheesecake, Happy Birthday, Sugar Cookie and Bananaberry.

My master bedroom... I love my room to be calm and relaxing, so my personal choices for fragrances aren't very overpower. Generally I warm things like By The Sea (from the spring/summer collection), or Zen Garden. This week, however, I did change it up to Just Breathe. This is simply because myself and my husband seem to be a little stuffed up, and the eucalyptus in this fragrance seems to truly help open up your airways :)

Just Breathe: Breathe deeply as soothing eucalyptus, zesty lemon, and a medley of mints comfort and rejuvenate

My upstairs main bathroom - I am also warming Just Breathe ... I tend to have the same fragrance in the bathroom as I do my bedroom, and the only reason is because they are so close together, and when I want something to smell a certain way, I don't want my fragrances mixing in the hallway!

Anyway, I cannot wait for my first order of my fall/winter fragrances to arrive - Shimmer will definitely become my new bedroom fragrance - it's smells very light, and I feel as though it will be a good addition to my "bedroom smellies".

Another im really looking forward to is Orange Amber, I have literally smelled this tester a million times, and I am totally in love with it for Fall.

My next few favourites: Pumpkin Marshmallow, Everything Nice, Crumb Top, Salted Caramel Cupcake, and of course Pumpkin Roll!

Who am I kidding though, I love pretty much alllllll fragrances!

Anyway, that's all for today!

I wish everyone a very great weekend!

If you live near me, its time to start bundling up a little and going on those nice crisp evening walks!

All My Love,

The Scentsy Story - Timeline Version

The Scentsy Story

Early Entrepreneurial Spirit (1979-1993)

Orville Thompson’s entrepreneurial spirit emerged long before he and his wife Heidi launched Scentsy on July 1, 2004.
In 1979, 10-year-old Orville approached his father about purchasing a flock of sheep from a neighbor, who was offering to accept half of the following year’s lambs as payment. Orville agreed to sell his horse to pay for feed. Orville’s father agreed – believing he was raising a son rather than sheep by allowing Orville to take on this huge responsibility.
Over the next several years, Orville turned his flock from a collection of crossbreeds into a purebred flock. He earned money selling sheep at auctions and to other young people who would raise and show sheep through programs like 4H. By the time he graduated from high school, Orville had $14,000 in the bank.
In 1990, Orville married Heidi Braucht. The young couple moved to Seattle, Washington, where Orville was studying at the University of Washington.
Following his graduation in 1992 with a B.A. in History and a strong interest in international trade, Orville worked in international shipping, where he further honed his entrepreneurial acumen and business skills — but for very little income

From Car Wax to Candle Wax (1994-2003)

In 1994, the job market was shrinking and Orville and Heidi had a growing family to support. Orville put aside the thought of a corporate career or a Ph.D. in History and instead went into business with Heidi’s mother, Alice, developing a car wax formula and selling it (along with other products) at fairs and shows in the Pacific Northwest and surrounding areas.
For the next year, Orville and Heidi lived in a travel trailer with their first child, roaming throughout the country working the fairs and shows business. With the impending birth of their second child, the growing family put down roots in Meridian, Idaho, trading the travel trailer for a house. Orville continued to work the fairs and shows business, and his company, Event Sales, became one of the largest fairs, shows, and mall kiosk companies in the western United States. Heidi concentrated on raising the family while Orville spent many months each year on the road selling car wax, shammies, 64-in-1 video game controllers, and other popular products.
Event Sales was successful on the surface, but Orville regularly needed to take on greater amounts of debt to keep the company afloat.

Swing for the Fence (2004)

In 2003, Orville invested in a car wax infomercial that failed, leaving Orville and Heidi $700,000 in net debt and on the verge of bankruptcy. Orville says about that time in his life: “I was feeling just beaten down as an entrepreneur, a failure. And I remember thinking, ‘Why didn’t I just become a dentist?’”
Orville went to Heidi and said, “We are really in debt; we should probably file for bankruptcy.” To which Heidi replied, “No. We are going to swing for the fence and we’re going to swing really hard.”

Trading Video Games for Scents

In March 2004, without enough money in the Event Sales checking account to pay the rent on booth space, Orville attended a Salt Lake City, Utah, home show. He wrote a check to the show promoter, saying, “This check is bad. Don’t cash it, but please let me set up. I will buy this check back from you with cash by the end of the show.” The promoter agreed. Orville set up his booth selling 64-in-1 video game controllers across the aisle from two stay-at-home moms who were selling decorative warmers designed to melt scented wax with the heat of a light bulb instead of a traditional wick and flame.
Over the next few days, the wickless candle concept fascinated Orville. He struck up a conversation with the women during a lunch break, and they swapped products. Orville traded a video game controller for a warmer, several wickless candle bars, and a set of scent testers. He took the products home to Heidi, who now admits she planned to toss them into the pile of other products Orville was fond of bringing home for her to evaluate for Event Sales.
The products never made it to the pile of discards. Instead, Heidi fell in love with them.

Trust & Collaboration

A few days after returning from the home show, Heidi was visiting and sharing the scents testers with her mom and sister. Orville left to run an errand and came home to find the women still smelling the testers, laughing and sharing memories. They were having a great time and something smelled delicious. He asked Heidi what she was baking and the women laughed. She told him it was a Scentsy candle bar called Banana Nut Bread.
Orville was touched by the cozy scene and intrigued to see how different scents could evoke emotions and memories. He was energized by how natural it was to share those feelings and memories with others in the “party” environment. Orville and Heidi purchased the tiny company and moved Scentsy to Meridian, Idaho.

Heidi Discovers the DSA

Heidi quickly immersed herself in the new venture. She was in love with Scentsy products and determined to see the company succeed.
Heidi’s participation in the business would prove invaluable. While Orville traveled for Event Sales as he did each summer, Heidi took over the financial books and began researching different business models, including direct selling. She learned about the Direct Selling Association (DSA) and was impressed by the DSA’s high level of support for its members. But what really drew her to DSA was the organization’s Code of Ethics.
Heidi convinced Orville to attend the DSA’s national meeting in New Orleans even though the expense was considerable. In fact, Orville and Heidi now laugh that they had to “rub their remaining credit cards together” to come up with the funds for just Orville to attend that meeting.
And that’s where the idea to launch Scentsy as a party plan company was formed. Orville and Heidi learned everything they could about how the direct selling business model worked. They realized how well that model suited the wonderful experience the women in Heidi’s family had shared in her kitchen with the Scentsy testers.
On July 1, 2004, Orville and Heidi launched Scentsy as a party plan company. Driving to Salt Lake City to meet with potential Scentsy Consultants that day, they created the company’s mission statement:
“To bring value to the world by providing an industry-leading, family-friendly business opportunity selling creative, artistic, high-quality products that Warm the Heart, Enliven the Senses, and Inspire the Soul.”

Humble Beginnings

Scentsy’s first home was a 40-foot metal box. For several months, the Thompsons and their five kids ran Scentsy’s manufacturing and shipping operations from an old ocean shipping container that had been sitting on the family sheep farm in Meridian, Idaho. Orville had secured the farm and started raising sheep when he felt discouraged with his failing Event Sales business. It was his way to reconnect to a time when he felt inspired as a successful entrepreneur. Now it was time to sell the sheep and get to work.
Because they were deeply in debt, with no credit line or means to take on investors, Orville and Heidi had no choice but to “bootstrap.” They used what they had — including converting a mouse-infested ocean container into the “home office” — and worked tirelessly, nearly around the clock, to launch the fledgling company.

From the Sheep Farm to the Office Park (2004-2005)

By October 2004, Scentsy had outgrown the container on the farm. Orville and Heidi signed their first lease and moved into a 1,800-square-foot warehouse and office facility on Franklin Avenue in Meridian, Idaho. They knew it wouldn’t hold them for long, but it was what they could afford. There was enough room to manufacture and store products, and space for employees — but not enough money to pay them.
Together with their family and friends, the Thompsons poured, cooled, packed, and shipped all the wickless candles themselves. Heidi’s parents, Alice and Fred, pitched in and worked seven days a week, at no salary, for nearly two years. Scentsy’s early Consultants often showed up to help pack and ship their own party orders, and Orville’s mother joined right in to help them when she came to visit.

Starting Small Thinking Big (2006-2007)

In June 2006, Scentsy doubled its square footage, moving to a new 5,000-square-foot facility with warehouse space for manufacturing and shipping, and office space for its growing staff. But it was only a matter of months before the company outgrew that location, too. After less than a year on Adkins Drive in Meridian, Scentsy was already sorely in need of more space.
It was time for a bold move. Orville found a building in Meridian with enough space to accommodate Scentsy’s growth. But when he approached the property owner in March 2007 to talk about terms, the owner thought Scentsy’s revenue projections of 400 percent growth by year’s end were unreasonable.
Not willing to give up, Orville cut his projections by half and met with the landlord again.
Hours before Scentsy’s annual Convention in July 2007, the landlord finally agreed to lease space to Scentsy. And incidentally, Scentsy’s growth in 2007 (more than 600 percent) was in line with Orville’s original “unreasonable” projections.
Scentsy’s new 42,000-square-foot location at 3698 East Lanark Street housed most of Scentsy’s operations, including new office space for its growing staff. Scentsy moved in just in time for the very busy holiday selling season. At the time, neither of the Thompsons believed Scentsy would ever fill the space.
In October 2007, the company opened a 14,000-square-foot distribution center near Chicago, Illinois, to accommodate the company’s growth in the eastern United States.

Expansion and Automation (2008)

In June 2008, Scentsy began to automate, speeding up production with a custom-designed candle bar injection machine — christened Alice in honor of Heidi’s mother and her generous service to the company. In August 2008, the company installed a second candle bar injection machine, appropriately named Fred in honor of Heidi’s stepfather and his donated time. Several additional automated candle bar injection machines joined Alice and Fred later that year. By the end of 2008, Scentsy filled more than 100,000 square feet in the East Lanark building.

Bridging New Borders in Puerto Rico

In September 2008, during a system-wide software upgrade, a switch was unintentionally left open that allowed Puerto Rico residents to enroll as Consultants. And enroll they did. By the following summer, the Puerto Rico market was growing at a rate six times higher than the US rate. The leadership team was concerned. Scentsy had few bilingual field leaders and very few training materials translated into Spanish. With such rapid growth and limited communication, Scentsy executives wondered whether the guidelines, ethics, and policies were being followed. Chuck Thompson, Scentsy's Chief Financial Officer, and Mark Stastny, Scentsy's Chief Marketing Officer, took a team of employees to Puerto Rico to see what was going on.
What they found amazed them. “The alignment with the Scentsy values was incredible,” Mark says. Somehow the Scentsy message made it smoothly through the language barrier. Puerto Rico’s family-oriented, close-knit culture offered a perfect environment for the Scentsy model.

Rising Star in the Direct Selling Industry (2009)

In June 2009, a month before celebrating its fifth anniversary as a party plan company, Scentsy was awarded the DSA’s first ever Rising Star Award, given to the DSA member company that showed the most remarkable growth while demonstrating adherence to the DSA’s Code of Ethics.
Several weeks later in July 2009, Orville and Heidi threw a most unusual and compelling “party” to commemorate Scentsy’s fifth anniversary. To express their appreciation for the success Scentsy had achieved and show support for their community, the Thompsons gave their employees and vendors and their family members a total of $100,000 cash to spend in one day in 40 family-owned small businesses in the Boise area. Businesses were nominated by Scentsy executives and employees and chosen by a committee. Employees kept what they purchased as thanks for their contribution and $2,500 was spent in each location, giving some small local businesses an infusion of cash rarely seen in those economic times. This celebration served as the inspiration for Scentsy’s fall 2009 “Contribute” campaign in which Consultants were encouraged to mirror Scentsy’s local program in their own communities.
In July 2009, the company also launched a new 80,000-square-foot distribution facility in the Lexington, Kentucky, area to improve service to Consultants outside the Intermountain West.

In October 2009, Scentsy looked beyond its national sales model and opened the doors to selling and recruiting in Canada. In an unusual move for a party plan company, this first international expansion allowed U.S.-based Consultants to sell and recruit across the border. In this way, Scentsy’s values and “spirit” crossed the border as well. New Canadian Consultants received training and support from seasoned Consultants in the U.S., and U.S. Consultants were given an opportunity to grow their businesses. Scentsy showed a profit in Canada in less than three months. At the end of the first quarter of 2010, Scentsy had more than 1,000 active Consultants in Canada. By the end of the year, Scentsy had spread operations to all 50 United States, Puerto Rico, Guam, and Canada.

Big Upgrades and New Digs (2010)

In July 2010, Scentsy upgraded to a new facility. This time, most of the company’s Meridian, Idaho, staff (excluding Shipping and Manufacturing personnel) moved to a new space across the street from the East Lanark location. This new 65,000+ square-foot location will buy the company some much needed elbow room as it continues to grow. East Lanark continues to house the company’s warehouse and shipping operations, along with Scentsy’s Wellness Center, a full-service gym with a full-time fitness trainer, available at no cost to all employees (and at very low cost to their spouses).
As Scentsy employees stretched their legs in the new facility, they also celebrated six years in business with Six-Pack Give Back, six volunteer events in Idaho’s Treasure Valley. Together with Consultants, friends, families, and suppliers, Scentsy employees donated blood, sweat, and time to support the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure — the Scentsy team had 2,200 participants! — Boise’s Paint the Town event, the Red Cross, Dress for Success with the Women’s and Children’s Alliance, Wednesday’s Child, and 20 family-owned Treasure Valley businesses.
Automation and expansion continued at a rapid pace in 2010; in March 2010, “Alice” and “Fred” were retired and replaced by custom-designed high-speed wickless candle manufacturing equipment affectionately named “Alice2” and “Fred2.”
In addition to the exciting expansion, 2010 brought new honors for the company: Scentsy was included in the Direct Selling News Global 100 list of top direct selling companies, as well as being named the number one consumer products company on the Inc. 500 list of the fastest-growing privately held companies in the United States.

Continued Growth and International Expansion (2011)

At the start of 2011, Scentsy announced big plans: a 50-acre campus with a 157,000-square-foot office tower, a 159,000-square-foot distribution center, and a 105,000-square-foot warehouse. Construction on the campus began almost immediately.
As Scentsy worked to accommodate its continued growth at home, the company also began looking beyond its continental borders. In April 2011, Scentsy expanded to Europe with a successful launch in both the UK and Germany; by the end of the year, the company had also launched in Ireland.
Progress continued on the new campus. The Scentsy rail line — which runs right up to the new campus — was completed and celebrated with a Golden Spike Ceremony, and in late summer, Scentsy moved into its new manufacturing building and distribution center. In September 2011, the company also opened a new 146,000-square-foot distribution facility in Coppell, Texas, to better serve Consultants and customers in the Southwest.
Throughout the year, Scentsy was recognized in a variety of ways, from Heidi being named the Idaho Business Review Woman of the Year to again being included in the Inc. 500 list — ranked this time among the top 100. The company continued to devote a large portion of its resources to charitable causes, through events like its Halt the Hunger campaign, which raised more than $600,000 for the Idaho Food Bank, and the Scentsy Teeter-Totter-a-Thon, which raised money for seven children’s charities.
And Orville once again took up raising sheep with his father in his spare time.

New Product Lines (2012)

In March 2012, alongside the release of the new Scentsy Spring/Summer 2012 Catalog, Scentsy launched a new product line: Layers by Scentsy, a personal and laundry care line that would allow Consultants and Customers to extend the Scentsy fragrance experience from their skin to their clothes.
In September 2012, Scentsy launched Sincerely Scent, a line of scented greeting cards that are completely customizable — even down to the Scentsy Favorites fragrance inside!

The Story Continues

What began in 2003 as a simple idea inspired by ordinary women has since become a thriving international business. Orville and Heidi — along with thousands of Scentsy Consultants and customers — have created something extraordinary that touches thousands of lives each day in profound ways. Orville says it best: “Through the power of our fragrances, the simplicity of our product line, and a deep sense of family at home and at work, we find hope, vision, and an appetite for working hard as a team that binds us together. With Scentsy, we have each found something that speaks to and encourages the best in ourselves and each other.”

The Importance Of Networking

The Importance Of Networking
Talkin Scents 101

Networking is the single most powerful marketing tactic to accelerate and sustain success for any individual or organization. It is about making connections and building enduring, mutually beneficial relationships.

We are constantly bombarded with advertisements, emails, status updates, special offers,  and sales pitches creating a cluttered message. Personal relationships enable you and your organization to stand out, rise above the noise and remain top of mind.

The keyword in this, is relationships.

Relationships are the catalyst for success. It makes sense really... people do business with those they like and trust. Networking provides the most productive, most proficient and most enduring tactic to build relationships. To succeed you must continually connect with new people, cultivate emerging relationships and leverage your network.

Networking is a planned, and ongoing effort. You set goals, develop strategies for achieving them, take action, evaluate how well your plan is working, and make changes as necessary. It is something that you do throughout your career.

Remember, its not always about WHO YOU KNOW... its about WHO KNOWS YOU!

How Do I Network?

Networking doesn't have to be a huge daunting task, mind you, you do need to show consistency and be true on your word with what you are able to offer and provide to those who you connect with.

Simple ways to network are simply being involved. Involve yourself in groups (whether it be at a local chamber meeting and meet other small local businesses around you, or through social media groups).

You can take your networking to any level, it all depends on how dedicated you wish to become, because once you begin your networking journey, you must be there to follow up with your connections when the time comes.

My biggest piece of advice when it comes to networking is to organize yourself, and have a networking plan. Oh.. and don't think these things happen overnight either. This is why I always say that consistency is key when it comes to networking.

You want to be involved as well, especially when it comes to DSA or MLM companies with your team, your up line/down line, and also other leaders and teams! The more people you connect with, the better your business will grow. When you connect and share with people who are within the same industry as yourself, you benefit one another by sharing ideas and marketing/networking strategies.

Remember too, that everyone works their business different, so remember to respect those who choose to view success in a different light than yourself. Respect the connections you make, no matter how large or small they may be, because you never know what the road ahead of you will bring, and its always great to have people who are willing to cheer you on or who have experienced similar situations themselves.

Planning:

Making a networking plan is the best way to start off (and remember that the higher you aim the more effort you will have to put forth to make your plan come true!)
1) Set Goals For Networking - Deciding who to contact will largely depend on what your goals are.
2) Identify your networking needs and interests - know where you want to go with this and what you need out of it!
3) Learn about formal and informal networks -  Formal networks are the type your actually join, usually with dues and regular meetings. These could include a professional association, a group like the Lion's Club, or an association of school graduates. Informal networks may include friends you run into an annual holiday party, friends from a former job, people from your church, mosque, or synagogue, or people you met while white-water rafting.
4) Familiarize yourself with networking resources - find different platforms that you'd be able to network within - Social Media (although the easiest form) is so overloaded with people who are trying to do the same thing as you are, that you will be that needle in the haystack. You need to make connections face to face, to make an impact and be remembered - RELATIONSHIPS

Contacts:Maintain a network that is a manageable size for you. Start off small, and work up to a size that works for you and is beneficial.
1) Make a list of people you already know who you want to include in your network.
2) Make a list of potential contacts
3) Consider how you will contact the people you want to include in your network: in person, email, phone, online, social media etc.

Networking Etiquette:
1) Always respect your contacts - make sure you have their permission to use their name as a referral to get someone else.
2) Make sure you call/contact people at times that are convenient for THEM. Always remember time zones if you are reaching out of your area.... What I mean is, don't contact someone at midnight just to "touch base"
3) Follow through on your promises. If someone asks you for something that you have mentioned, make note of it and ensure you complete that tast within the week. Another example is if you offer to find a phone number for someone, make sure you make good on your word.
4) Always remember to thank anyone who helps you or provides you with leads. It is wise to thank people even if their suggestions or leads don't pan out, contacts will appreciate the follow up.

Scentsy Blog Update!!

Talkin Scents 101
Brittany Gerrity

Hello Scentsy Friends!!

I have been so MIA from my Scentsy Fragrance Blog, and I am so very sorry! I have to say though, this is the greatest thing about being part of the Scentsy Family; the fact that I can prioritize my life and my family first and still work my business!!

So this summer has been flying by, and my family and I have been having a blast so far! We have gone on camping trips, to local fairs, spent time with close friends and family, and have been using our weekend time very preciously.

I want to say though, that I have found it very simple to incorporate my Scentsy Fragrance business in all aspects of my family life though.

First off, branding... I don't think you'll see me very often on the weekend without some form of Scentsy Family Store apparel on. This is the easiest way to attract people to your business even while you're on the go! People recognize the logo that you're sporting and come to you!! I always make sure that no matter where I am I have a catalogue (or 3) in my bag or purse to hand out!

Second, I bring a little Scentsy Fragrance everywhere I go! For example, when we go camping, I bring scent circles, and scent paks (as well as Layers samples .... just so I don't have to worry about the wax melting in my trailer), and hand them out to the neighboring campers! I also always bring a layers hand soap for the campground bathroom! ** JUST REMEMBER TO LABEL WITH YOUR INFO JUST IN CASE SOMEONE LOVES IT SO MUCH THEY TAKE IT HOME!! **

My superstar director (as well as the rest of my upline) are also doing a "Summer Movers & Shakers" program with our teams. She has challenged us all to spend at least 15-30 minutes a day on our Scentsy business and then post what we have done to the Facebook group she created. It was the perfect way for us all to stay motivated and to help one another bump ideas off of each other through the summer months.

My director also had a summer team meeting barbeque at her home, this was a fantastic experience for me and we were able to sit down together and talk and chat about what we are doing in our business and how we work things into our busty lives. Most of our team have kids, and families to take care of, so it was awesome to see how even ladies who have 5 kids, and a full time job on top of that work it into their life and still make it successful.

This summer I also added on my first recruit! Yay!! This was a turning point for me in my business, and because of our team BBQ, and how everyone complemented my organizational skills and have now nicknamed me the "queen of information" I know I must be doing something right. Patience and staying positive is the way to go!

My sponsor also just celebrated her first SCENTiversary, YAYYY Meaghann!! It is so great to have such a motivated team around me!! :)

Hmmm what else have I been up to?....

Oh!! I know, I put the Coconut Lemongrass body spray to the test this summer while camping! I had seen a lot of people post on social media outlets about how the Coconut Lemongrass body spray (and other layers products) helped repel mosquitos. I thought to myself, that's crazy, but if its another part of my business I can market, that's great! But, because I am a very honest individual I had to test it out on myself first!.... IT WORKS!! During our first camping trip this summer, the mosquito population seemed to have quadrupled from what it typically is in the summer.... I did NOT use regular bug repellant, and swaped for the Coconut Lemongrass Body Spray from Layers By Scentsy.
I have to say... I only had ONE bite when I got home, while the rest of my friends and family looked like they had a serious case of chicken pox... Needless to say they were all over me about why I didn't share the body spray with them HAHA... But I had to explain that I wanted to prove it worked first before I started to tell everyone around me it worked!!

Another thing I tried out this summer, was my leftover Scentsy Fragrance wax fire starters!
OH EM GEE... these work AMAZINGLY well! My friends were so impressed on how easily we were able to start fires in our fire pits (EVEN IN THE POURING RAIN).
-- For those of you who don't know what the heck I am even talking about... soak up your leftover wax with paper towel, and SAVE IT.... That's your fire starter!!
Anyway,

I am off to start my day at my full time job now!

All my love,

Brittany Gerrity

Team Semi-Annual Meeting

Hey Scentsy friends!

I have to say that I had a SCENTsational weekend! I hope everyone else did as well!

The best part of my weekend was our Semi-Annual team meeting/BBQ! What a fun and informative day!

I am lucky enough to live close to my director, and I have the ability to meet up with her one on one on a more regular basis. I know that some Independent Scentsy Consultants don't necessarily live close to theirs and may only get the chance to see them at major events (such as Spring Sprint or Family Reunion). I am blessed to be in contact with such an amazing group of individuals who all are very generous with sharing their experiences and knowledge with one another to help each other grown and be successful together.

I was even more excited when I was able to spend the day with my Super Star Director as well, she travelled quite a distance, but I was so happy to have the opportunity to meet with someone who is that down to earth and is that willing to come and meet up with us just to hang out and hear what we have to say!

I am such a happy #scentsysister and so blessed to be part of such an amaizing #scentsyfamily!
