Thoughts For Thursday

I came across an article....
Talkin' Scents 101

Hey Scentsy Friends!

I came across an article posted/shared by a Scentsy Director on Facebook that I found quite compelling and interesting in regards to Scentsy Inc.
I suppose it was the title that "peaked" my interest.. "Has Scentsy peaked?" written by Zach Kyle ....

I thought, there's NO WAY that they've peaked in this business. I know that even though this company has grown to substantial proportions that they have plenty of room for growth.
Although Scentsy Inc. announced the discontinuation of Grace Adele this year, I do not believe that this is a cause for concern for the longevity of the company as a whole. You can read my post in regards to the discontinuation on my blog as well. Orville and Heidi make smart decisions, both for the business and for the lifetime of their Independent Consultants careers... if you know anything about the Scentsy Inc. background/history, you would understand how hard they had to strive and persevere to get this company even started in the beginning. They will not let something hold them back, and know where their best quality's are to focus on. (For those who don't already know this, Orville purchased Scentsy 10 years ago now and began his adventure on his own. Operating solely out of a shipping container on a sheep farm. He hand made warmers, and had to start the business from the ground up himself along side his beautiful wife.)

The article describes not only the hardships that Orville and Heidi Thompson incurred while getting this company off of the ground, but also where they are now. It also touches base on the "Pyramid Scheme" that is often thrown in the faces of those in direct sales. (On a personal note: I feel as though those who accuse these direct sales companies of this are the ones who don't even understand what the difference is between a pyramid scheme and multi-level marketing... * maybe that deserves a blog post all on its own.... *)

"The Thompsons have come a long way from the metal shipping container on the family sheep farm in Meridian, where Orville made the first Scentsy bars to package with the electric warming devices by hand. They've come a long way since they sold car-wash shammies, self-filtering water bottles and massagers in booths at fairs and home shows in Washington state while operating their first business, Event Sales."

Orville an Heidi completed the new construction of their $88 million headquarters last year. The 73-acre property has an outdoor amphitheater, fountain and more than 1,000 trees. This company is doing well, obviously and they aren't planning on going anywhere anytime soon!!

Anyway, I'm not going to go into too much detail about the rest of the article, because it was well written and deserves to be read itself.

So look it up on Google!!

In the end, Scentsy Inc. is not going anywhere....and I am SOOOO GLAD FOR THAT!!

"Orville Thompson said Scentsy will evolve by developing new products. But the original, linchpin products that have generated more than $2 billion in sales aren't going anywhere.
"The concept of fragrance delivered through wax heated by a light bulb will last as long as the government allows us to have light bulbs," he said. "There isn't a better way of getting fragrance.""
